You may have seen it out and about — that bright blue van rolling around on Manx streets, decked out in MFX green. But there’s more behind those wheels than just doorstep collections. This is a story of bold ideas, community spirit, and a shared belief in building something better.
Clara Isaac, founder of Recyclecollect.im, started her journey with a sister company of ours, Conister Bank. What began as an idea during her time with us quickly turned into a community-driven movement — one that’s transformed how the Isle of Man handles waste.
At the time, the island didn’t offer doorstep recycling to areas outside of Douglas and Braddan. So Clara rolled up her sleeves and built it from scratch.
And we backed her from day one.
“They didn’t just sponsor the first van,” says Clara. “MFX gave us a lifeline when launching felt impossible. Inflation, interest rates, cost-of-living pressure — while others were closing their doors, we were opening new ones. Because MFX said yes.”
That first van created two full-time jobs. Fast forward and Recycle Collect is now a female-led team of seven, serving over 2,000 households and collecting more than 250 tonnes of commercial waste each year — all on top of household pickups.
And the mission doesn’t stop at the curb. Clara and her team lead school sessions, run myth-busting recycling talks, and host lunch-and-learn events for businesses — changing mindsets as well as bins!
